All About Madawaska Valley Cycling

A certified NCCP community cycling coach, Robert is an accomplished cyclist and racer in road, gravel, cyclocross, mountain bike, and track disciplines. A father, artist-educator, theatre artist, photographer, and filmmaker, Robert divides his time between the quiet roads and beautiful vistas of the Ottawa Valley with the hustle and bustle of the Greater Toronto Area.

He prides himself on being a friendly, personable, and enthusiastic riding partner, and will show you all of the gems that the Madawaska and Bonnechere Valleys have to offer, including quiet roads, hidden waterfalls and streams, along with beautiful hiking spots and remote beaches for swimming after a ride.

With his camera in hand, Robert is sure to take many photographs of you on your bike, and you'll be sure to have stellar photographic mementos of you enjoying your cycling adventure in the Ottawa Valley.

If you are newer to riding or looking to improve your technique, ask Robert about riding clinics to improve your skills and confidence while riding solo or in a peloton. Book now and get one month free of TrainerRoad virtual training programs.

Apart from our guided tours, Madawaska Valley Cycling also has informal local club rides that meet multiple times a week during the summer to ride road and gravel routes out of Barry's Bay, Wilno, and Killaloe. Distances and speeds depend on the terrain and surface. We have two speed groups on the road that leave at separate times.

Road Tours

Pristine pavement on quiet roads that meander through picturesque towns, up challenging climbs, under canopied hardwood forest, and down twisting descends.

Gravel Tours

Remote roads with challenging climbs and envigorating descents to areas off the beaten path. Ride like a local and visit all of the hidden gems of the Valley.

Mountain Bike Tours

If you are looking to truly explore off the beaten path and travel deep into the heart of crown land in the Bonnechere Valley, take a tour with us that follows bush trails, the abandoned Ottawa, Arnprior, and Parry Sound Railway, and the old Bonnechere to Pembroke wagon roads.

Group Rides and Skills Clinics

Newer to riding? Looking to improve your technique and skills? Learn how to ride confidently and safely in a group. Conquer that gravel climb you've been challenged by. Clean that technical section on your local trail that you've been putting a foot down on. We will teach you how to climb effectively, how to draft a rider in front, how to ride side by side, how to roll through pacelines, and how to sprint. Want individual one-on-one coaching on riding skills? Look no further than MVC.
